The Moderate Majority
After looking and hearing about how people are so far right or so far left I stumbled across this article and found some of the things in it interesting. If you find yourself to be more centrist maybe you will agree with some of the numbers that are thrown around.

There is no doubt a majority of the voting public in America lies in the “center.” You will find a lot of die hard Conservatives and Liberals that lie on each side of the political spectrum, but average, everyday citizens usually fall somewhere in the center. Most Americans don’t have time, or interest, to be so involved in politics that they care that strongly about a certain issue, which may mark them as a strong Conservative or a strong Liberal. I liked this article because it allowed you to “test” yourself to see if you are on the left, center, or right. I found that for the most part I call on the right, but for some issues, I seem to be more centrist. Where did everyone else fall – is that where you THOUGHT you would lie?
ReplyDeleteThis article is really interesting since all of the material that we have read indicates those who are Republican and Democratic are now seen as further to the way right of the spectrum or way left of the spectrum. Yes, these people who refer to themselves as one belonging to the party are more towards the end of the spectrum, but there is still a mass amount of people who remain moderate. It is also interesting to me that if people agree more with one side on a certain issue and agree with the other side on a different issue they then are considered to be a moderate. Looks to me that more moderate presidents were bound to win the 2008 election since about 70% of us link to be just that.
