GOP's future: More trouble ahead

I wrote in my other post for today that the GOP needed a face lift. It looks like I'm not the only one that thinks so. Will they be able to make a comeback by 2010 though?

  1. This article brings up the fact that the GOP is becoming “outdated.” – I tend to agree with this statement. As the world is changing all around us, the GOP doesn’t seem to be adjusting their platforms to fit, such as the Democrats have. For instance, the GOP still holds strong to their ideals about gay rights. An interesting point one article I recently read brought up is that in order for the GOP to regain power, perhaps they should reconsider their stance on gay rights. As the article puts it, "They’re here, they can vote, so get over it." After all, aren't the Republicans all for allowing less government intrusion (yet they want a govt. ban on gay marriage?) in our daily lives? That is something to think about to “update” their platform. Your article also briefly talks about Sarah Palin. I think Palin brought a little bit of youth to the 2008 election, something the GOP definitely needs right now. Can you imagine if another 70-something year old man was McCain’s running mate, instead of Palin. The results would have been ever more for Obama than they actually were. Bottom line, the GOP needs to shoot a little youth into their party to energize the masses.
